The short version

Who we are

Katch is made by Katch Entertainment, Inc., a Delaware C-Corporation at 160 Avila St, San Francisco, CA 94123. This policy covers katch.ai and everything you reach from it.

Questions about your information go to hello@katch.ai.

We never ask for account access

We will never request your password, your login, or permission to connect or authorize any account, whether social, email, financial, or otherwise. No Katch page, email, or person will ever ask you for it. We have no ability to see private posts, direct messages, or anything behind a login.

If something claiming to be Katch asks you for any of that, it isn't us. Forward it to hello@katch.ai.

What we collect

WhatWhen
Email addressWhen you join the waitlist or start an order
Order details: product, add-ons, whether it's a giftWhen you start an order
Your brief: a first name, social handles you choose to include, creative preferences of your choice, pronouns if you choose to include them, and whatever you write in the open questionsWhen you complete your brief
Birth date, time, and cityOnly if you add the astrology read. Placements can't be calculated without them.
Payment confirmation: amount and transaction referenceAt checkout. Your card number goes to Stripe directly and never touches our servers.
Name, email, messageWhen you write to us
Usage data: pages viewed, device, approximate region, how you arrivedAutomatically, when you visit

Only a first name is required in the brief. Everything else is yours to answer or skip.

If you're ordering a gift

When you order for someone else, you tell us about them, so:

  • We use it to make their Song or Read, and for nothing else.
  • If they write to us asking what we hold about them, or asking us to delete it, we'll honor that directly with them.

Share what you're comfortable sharing on their behalf.

What we do with it

  • Make what you ordered. Your brief becomes your Song or your Read. This is the primary purpose of nearly everything we collect.
  • Deliver it and support it. Sending your brief, your checkout link, and your finished work; helping when something goes wrong.
  • Take payment and handle refunds and disputes.
  • Tell you when the Identity Passport opens, if you asked. Every one of those emails carries a working unsubscribe link.
  • Understand the site in aggregate. Which pages work, where people stop.
  • Keep things safe and lawful. Preventing fraud and abuse, meeting tax and accounting obligations.

About your delivery link. Finished work arrives at a long, randomly generated URL that isn't listed anywhere and isn't indexed by search engines, so nobody will stumble onto it. There's no password on it, which means anyone you forward it to can open it. Ask us to disable one and we will.

Service providers

A small number of companies help us run Katch. Each gets only what it needs, and each is contractually bound to use it only for us. We have no other data-sharing relationships.

WhoWhat they doWhat they get
StripePayment processingYour payment details, collected directly by them, plus your email and order amount
PostmarkSending our emailYour email address and the contents of what we send you
GoogleAnalytics and ads measurementSite usage data and cookie identifiers only. They receive nothing from your brief or your finished work.
Amazon Web ServicesHosting and storageEverything stored on our servers, held on our behalf
AI service providersComposing your Song, writing your ReadThe material your order is built from, under enterprise agreements that prohibit training on it

We'll also disclose information where the law genuinely requires it (a valid subpoena, court order, or equivalent), or to protect someone from imminent harm. If the business is ever sold or merged, information may transfer with it, and this policy travels with it until we tell you otherwise.

What we never do

We never sell or share your personal information. This includes sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, as California defines it.
We never use your brief to target ads at you. What you tell us stays inside the work you ordered.
We never publish your work. If we want to feature someone's Song or Read, we ask that person first and accept their answer. Anything featured on our site is there with permission.
Your story is never used to train AI models. We work with our AI providers under enterprise agreements that prohibit training on customer data.

Cookies and analytics

Two Google tools: Google Analytics 4, to understand how the site is used, and Google Ads conversion tracking, to know which ads led to orders. Both set cookies and collect a device identifier and usage data.

We use no advertising networks, chat widgets, session recorders, or social trackers. The only third-party resources our pages load are Google's analytics tags and Google Fonts.

Turn analytics off with Google's opt-out add-on, adjust ad personalization in your Google account settings, or block cookies in your browser. None of that affects your ability to order.

Data retention

We keep what you give us until you ask us to delete it. Your brief and your finished work stay available so you can come back for them. Ask us to remove any of it and we will.

Two exceptions, both required of us: order and payment records are kept for seven years to meet tax and accounting obligations, and analytics data expires on Google's schedule, currently 14 months.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold, send you a copy, correct it, delete it, or stop emailing you. Write to hello@katch.ai. We respond within 30 days, at no charge, and asking never affects how we treat you.

California

Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA you have the right to know, to access, to correct, to delete, to limit our use of sensitive personal information, and not to face discrimination for exercising any of them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, so there is no opt-out to make. You may authorize an agent to act for you.

EEA and UK

Our legal bases: contract, to build and deliver what you ordered; consent, for marketing email and non-essential cookies; and legitimate interests, for security, fraud prevention, and understanding site performance. You also have rights to object, to restrict processing, to data portability, and to complain to your supervisory authority.

Birth details, and anything you choose to write about health, beliefs, or relationships, may count as special category data. We process it on your explicit consent, given when you choose to include it, and you're free to leave it out.

Security

Your connection to Katch is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. Our systems and the information we store run on Amazon Web Services, which provides the underlying infrastructure security. Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach our systems at any point. Access to briefs and finished work is limited to the people who need it to make and deliver your order.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your information, we'll tell you and the relevant regulators as quickly as the law requires.

International transfers

We're based in the United States and process information there. For transfers out of the EEA or UK we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum with our providers.

Age

Katch is for adults. You must be 18 or older to order, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, write to hello@katch.ai and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change materially affects information you've already given us, we'll email you before it takes effect.
